Can I work whilst studying?

Most (not all) students studying abroad on a Student visa are permitted to work however you must check your visa conditions to confirm the exact details.

If your visa includes details on permitting you to work during your studies then as outlined above you can work without seeking any further permission. However, NCUK would always advise you to check the exact rules for the visa you are studying on before undertaking any work.

Please note that if you are studying on a course classed as below degree level, which includes our International Foundation and English Language courses then you may be permitted to work fewer hours than those studying at degree level.

If you have entered on a Visitor Visa you are not usually permitted to work.

Above everything, every student visa is personal to you, and you must follow the conditions on your documentation. You can also visit the relevant government website for the country you're studying in for more guidance.
