What are the term/start dates and other key University dates?
The term and start dates can vary depending on where you are planning to study. Universities offer much flexibility, but most have a key intake each year.
When choosing a course, it's essential to see when the course start dates are. For the United Kingdom, the main intakes are Semester A start (usually September or October) or Semester B start (January or February). Some UK universities offer a Semester C start in the summer (June/July), but these are not common.
In Australia, the Autumn Session start date (usually February or March) is the most common entry point for students looking to start their studies or the Summer Session start date (usually November). Again they have a Spring intake around July and August, but these are not common.
For Canada, the main intakes are Fall intake (usually September or October) or Winter intake (January or February). Some Canadian universities offer a Summer intake starting in the summer (June/July), but these are not common.
It's essential to understand when your desired course starts because you may have a small window following the completion of your pre-university course to get everything done before travelling, or you may have a few months that you need to plan for.
Start dates are published and will be available on the respective university websites at least two years in advance, allowing you to plan your journey into Higher Education.
